Society Bakery

First up, Society Bakery.

This is a semi-real official rating since I am the only one who ranked these cupcakes.  At least, I’m the only one whose rankings made it on to my ranking sheet.

But you can trust my opinion.  In fact, you probably should.  I’m completely and totally accurate at all times.  Don’t try to verify this because there are a lot of liars out there who will tell you differently.  I’m not a liar, though.  And, fun fact, I’m also not a vegetarian.

Anyway. Back to the Quest. Society Bakery.

I apologize for the lack of pictures.  For whatever reason it took trips to five bakeries before any of us to remembered to take pictures of the taste subjects before scarfing the goodness down.  I’ll do my best to improvise on the “Looks” category.

Aesthetics: On a rank from 1 to “So Beautiful That I Consider It A Work of Art And Am Now Calling The Dallas Museum of Art To Demand These Cupcakes Be Featured In The Permanent Exhibit,” I’d say that the Society cupcakes fall into a solid ranking of “good looking but nothing entirely special.”  The only cool looking cupcake was the Caramel Apple Pie which had a chunk of baked applies piled on top and drizzled with a caramel sauce.  Unfortunately, the Caramel Apple Pie didn’t taste as good as it looked.

Here were the flavors: Lemon, Caramel Apple Pie, Peanut Butter, Chocolate-Chocolate Chip, Carrot, Red Velvet, and Italian Wedding.

Here are my top three flavors in order: 1) Lemon, 2) Red Velvet, and 3) Chocolate-Chocolate Chip.  Granted it’s been over a month since I’ve tasted these (so take this with a grain of salt) but the lemon was definitely the best of these.  As a general rule, I don’t like Italian Wedding.  And I completely dislike Carrot–a vegetable doesn’t belong in cake. Ever. Gross.

Quest Begins!

DALLAS! What’s going on?

I’ll tell you what’s going on–cupcakes, cakes, and baked goods.  Bakeries are popping up like daisies, my friends.

And as such, Dallas needs someone to take on the arduous task of tasting and approving these bakeries.  It’s rough and tough but someone’s gotta do it.  We’re gonna do it.

Because we love Dallas. Sacrifices, sacrifices, sacrifices.

Get ready because Ultimate Cake quest has officially begun (as of May 2011–please see the “Quest” tab for further details)!

PS-Please excuse the inaccurate dates for the first few posts.  I’ve been keeping a ranking sheet but was peer pressured into creating a blog about this a few hours ago after another cupcake tasting event.  We’ll just play catch-up for a little bit 🙂
